Since 1972, our story has been closely linked to the land.
A name – LAN – composed of the initials of the three provinces that make up the D.O.Ca. Rioja: Logroño (now La Rioja), Álava and Navarra.

The soul of LAN

Viña Lanciano has been – and continues to be – the essence and the origin of Bodegas LAN and the umbilical cord that links our wines to the land. A vineyard in a meander of the River Ebro, which represents our pioneering commitment and respect for the raw materials, with the active practice of sustainable viticulture. Tempranillo, Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha vines grow across each of the 22 parcels, with vines aged between 40 and 60 years of age

The careful selection of raw materials and the most suitable oak for each type of wine lays the foundation for the creation of crianza wines with a marked personality and an established and growing international reputation.

LAN… is solely engaged in the production of crianza red wines, using Rioja’s native Tempranillo as the main variety, as this is the ideal grape to produce red wines that are subsequently aged in the cask and bottle.

Rioja’s most spectacular vineyard, Vina Lanciano, is located in a breathtaking meander of the River Ebro. The vineyard occupies an area of 72 hectares, in which the climate, river and soil endow already exceptional grapes with a unique personality. Vines as old as 60 years are used to make our top-of-the-range wines: Viña Lanciano, Culmen and Lan Edición Limitada.

Bodegas LAN ageing room extends over an area of 6,400 square metres. This is a unique setting with a pioneering and completely automated stacking, racking and climate control system. It currently houses a total of 25,000 casks of different types of oak: French, American, Russian and mixed (American oak staves and French oak heads) oak; all carefully selected from the world’s best coopers: : Taransaud, Seguin Moreau, Adour, Murua, etc.
